Europe Few would disagree with the statement that Europe was the birthplace of fine wines. The question as to where the exact birthplace was and how one defines the word "fine" however, will always be open to debate. While nearly every country in Europe has vineyards for wine grapes, only about a dozen are really known for the wines they produce; but that is changing.
